Graphic Design: Photoshop, Digital Drawing and Visual Basics

Photoshop, digital drawing and photo retouching, and how design choices affect real websites.

Key takeaways

  • Good design is clear communication: hierarchy, contrast, spacing and consistency matter more than effects.
  • Photoshop and AI tools speed up the work, but the idea and the editing decisions are still yours.
  • Design for the final medium: web images need the right size, format and alt text.
  • Formal training and regular practice both build skill.

What this topic covers

Graphic design is part of how I work alongside web and SEO. I create branding visuals, digital drawings and retouched photos, and I use Photoshop together with AI tools where they genuinely save time. The articles below cover two practical sides of it: how a logo differs from a full brand identity and why consistency helps small businesses, and how to prepare images so they look good and load quickly.

Training and practice

I completed a 60-hour training on “Graphic Design (Photoshop & AI Tools usage)” in January–February 2025, delivered by the Department of CSIT at Patuakhali Science and Technology University under the EDGE Project of the Bangladesh Computer Council. I also hold a Certificate of Excellence for “Digital Drawing with Photoshop” from Grameenphone Academy. You can open both on the Certifications page: Graphic Design and Digital Drawing with Photoshop.

Design basics I rely on

  • Hierarchy. Make the most important thing the most obvious thing.
  • Contrast and legibility. Text must be readable on its background, including for people with low vision.
  • Consistency. A small set of colours, fonts and spacing used the same way everywhere.
  • White space. Room to breathe makes layouts easier to scan.
  • Export for the web. Resize to the displayed size, use modern formats such as WebP, and write honest alt text. The image optimization guide shows how.
